Passing of an Ex- colleague
We got a shock when we heard from my secretary Ruby that our ex colleague Paul has passed away on Wednesday night. He was only 39 and cause of death was pancreatic cancer. This explained why he was looking skinny and frail when I bumped into him in recent months. Ian even saw him at SGH and noticed his darkened lips and chin. He was known to be a good looking rich boy when he was at the bank and he actually sat across from me in the trading room during his stint with the fixed income sales team. The only thing I remember about him was his cheerful smile. This is another reminder for us to treasure those around us as life is so fragile. Rest in peace Paul...
Resignation of a Good colleague in Tokyo
Since the merger between BOA and ML, there has been this conspiracy theory going around that key BOA personnel will eventually be replaced as the ML management build their empire. Another good colleague of mine in Tokyo was the victim last week. He is the last BOA MD under my ML boss and we all start wondering will "directors" be the next target. My husband is convinced that my days with the bank are "numbered" and has imposed a " bag ban" on me. We shall see......
Tessa's disappointing CA results
This one affected me the most. She used to be an all " band 1" girl in P1 and P2 and this time she only managed 2 band 1s in Maths and Science. I could not bear to nag at her as I can see she was clearly upset with her English and Chinese results. She said one of her classmates even cried in class because she got a band 2 in English! It is ridiculous that P3 kids have to be put through so much stress! Anyway, I decided to "outsource" Chinese from term 2 onwards while I will focused on English and Science. Hopefully I will have a more positive report on my blog after SA1!
Stressful days for little children and their mummies...Hey but stay positive! Remember your first post about Paul? At least you are alive, healthy and so is your family!
ReplyDeleteTrying hard to be positive. Not easy to come home after a long day at work to face a badly written compo!! Had to take a lot of deep breaths while correcting her mistakes! So hard to be cool about it!!!
